Our New Home

I've had a secret that has been occupying alot of my time. I've been hesitant to share it, why I don't really know. Well, today I'm putting it out there. We're under contract, and scheduled to close on this house next week! Yes, after nearly a year, we are finally getting our own place!

It's new construction in a community that was started about 5 years ago and has about 60 lots remaining. It's located in Mooresville, NC and is 15-20 min NE of where we are now. The schools are excellent and the kids will have lots of other children to play, swim, fish, ride bikes, etc with. We had been looking for a place with more land, but I am pleased to be in a place that's well lit, and will feel comfortable when Sam is gone. There is even a "NASCAR wives club".

The house has 2900 finished sq ft with a 2 car garage and a 1300 sq ft unfinished basement. There are 4 bedrooms and 3 full bathrooms, formal and casual living and dining areas, and a loft that overlooks the main floor. We are on the perimeter, so there is nothing behind us, but a beautiful view of Earnhard'ts property.

The home is huge and will take a long time to paint, decorate, and furnish, but I think we are going to enjoy the heck out of it.

So there you have it. I've been busy with paperwork and details, shopping, packing and planning. I hope you forgive my lack of posts for the past month, there was a good reason! Now that I've put it out there, keep us in our thoughts that everything else goes smoothly and we get moved in soon. =)

Two weeks feels like forever

The past two weekends Sam's had off have been great for family time, but Blake and I came to realize how much we enjoy watching the truck races and cheering for Jack! I am anxious for the race tonight!

Sam has had a fun trip that kicked off at a fan fest at sponsor American Commercial Lines headquarters in Indiana. They got a tour, launched a brand new barge into the river, participated in autograph sessions, and lots of other festivities. Sounds pretty cool. With a brand new truck, the ACL team blew the socks of all competitors during practice yesterday. The next closest time was 2 and 1/2 seconds slower, wow! Way to go guys!

Qualifying is at 3:30 ET with tv coverage of the race following at 6:30 ET. Tune in and cheer them on!

Oh The Places You'll Go

Not much has been going on around here and I don't know how many pictures of the kids in the pool you can stand, lol. So today I put together a collage of a few of the places I'd like to travel to in my lifetime. What places would you like to see?

Happy 4th!

Hope you all had a great weekend. Our's went pretty well. Blake came down sick Thursday evening. Can you believe it? Every stinkin year! Poor kiddo. Sam chose to work instead of taking a personal day, so luckily we didn't have much planned anyhow. Blake was feeling better by noon, but I still made him take it easy. When Sam got home I had Blake take a bath while I took Emily to the pool. The evening showers started, so Sam and Blake came down to pick us up. We watched Daytona qualifying and then went out for dinner. The rain was still coming down, but we wanted to go see fireworks somewhere so we drove up to Mooresville. Surprisingly it wasn't raining at all there! We were about halfway through a round of putt-putt (it's not miniature golf here) when the fireworks started. Emily said she felt like she was at Disney World! After the show we finished our game and came home to do a few sparklers, poppers and snakes in the parking lot. It turned out to be a really great 4th.

Summer Singing Camp

Emily did a day camp that was all about singing. They went every day and at the end of the week put on a show. The instructor stopped my to say that Emily has a "beautiful voice and excellent intonation". Sing it sister!
